The aim of this little volume is to interestthe American public in an importantand neglected subject. Thewriter has her own views on art, politics,religion and other topics which dividemankind, she does not intrudethose opinions here, although consciousthat "to see life steadily and see itwhole" much more is wanted than asingle branch of study, however vital.It is not possible, however, to remain silentand, at least passively, acquiescentwhen the interests of the race are in dangerof neglect. Need for apology isnot considered when great and influentialjournals, magazines and volumesdissipate their powers on all the feeblefoolings of the hour. There
