As you read the following pages, we hope youcan feel a bit of the primitive, swashbuckling historyof Padre Island. Where once roamed savages, cavaliers,pirates, soldiers and pioneers, there now rises—outof the sand dunes—an isle which every man haspictured for himself. Tropical birds, sea shell treasuresand exotic driftwood are cradled among thegleaming white sand dunes. Once in awhile theshifting sands reveal to the lucky hunter an oldmoney cache or relic of a bygone civilization.
