If among the vast multitude whichis now thronging this sacred building, there be one who has comeup hither with the expectation that it would be my object toexcite or fan a flame of bitter hostility against the members ofthe Church of Rome, I trust that he will be disappointed.

If there be any who have come up hither from a feeling of idlecuriosity, it is my earnest prayer that they may not leave thisChurch without obtaining a blessing, though unsought bythemselves.

It is now, my beloved Brethren, and it has beenthis day, my earnest and heartfelt prayer that, while I dischargewhat, perhaps mistakenly, yet conscientiously, I feel to be mybounden duty, I may not forget
