Several features of this book are unusual: it has two slightlydifferent lists of contents which do not correspond precisely withthe text, and there is a preface midway through the book; it hasconfusing page numbering (omitted from this transcription) whichrestarts in successive sections of the text using mixed arabic androman numerals; the text displays an unusual mixture of italics, small capitals, full capitals, and variable letter spacing (some ofwhich do not display correctly on handheld reading devices); muchof the spelling is archaic, and both spelling and punctuation areinconsistent. Some obvious typesetting errors have been corrected(see list) but the spelling andpunctuation otherwise remains true to the original text.
In this transcription a black dotted underline marks a hyperlink toa section of text or to a footnote (links are also highlighted when the mousepointer hovers over them).
A title has been added to the original blankcover.
