The Discovery of a North-west Passage havingdeserved the particular Attention of that greatMinister of State Sir Francis Walsingham, with the Approbationof the greatest Princess of that Age, I presumedto ask the Permission to inscribe the followingSheets, on the same Subject, to your Lordship, wrotewith no View of setting any further Expeditions on Foot,or with respect to any particular System, but as a candidand impartial Enquiry, to shew the great Probabilitythere is of a North-west Passage. The Importanceof the Subject, treated with the greatest Regard toTruth, are the only Pretensions I have to merit yourPatronage.
