The Gairdner edition of the Paston Letters was printed in sixvolumes. Each volume is a separate e-text; Volume VI is further dividedinto two e-texts, Letters and Index. Volume I, the GeneralIntroduction, will be released after all other volumes, matching theoriginal publication order.

In this Index segment of the Paston Letters, unambiguous errors inpunctuation and typography have been silently corrected or regularized.Other errors are marked with mouse-hover popups, and are listed again at the end oftheir entry. The word “invisible” means that there is an appropriatelysized blank space, but the letter or punctuation mark itself ismissing.

In the General Index, many cross-references (“See” or “See also”) aremisspelled. Where the difference is significant enough to make it hardto find the name, the corrected form is shown immediately after theoriginal entry.

Index: Letters and Titles
Index: Names, Places, Subjects, and ObsoleteWords
