This book is the joint production of twobrothers, who are constantly being mistakenfor one another, who happened to be presenttogether in the same campaign and to bothact as correspondents of the Times in thatcampaign. The chapters (III. IV. and V.) onSir Robert Low's advance are by CaptainGeorge Younghusband, who was presentthroughout the operations on General Low'sStaff. The remaining chapters are by CaptainFrancis Younghusband, who from his two years'residence in Chitral was better acquainted withthe country through which Colonel Kellymarched his troops, and with the place in whichthe defence was made.
