PREFACE

This perhaps should rather be called a prefatory note, since all theintroduction to my book that I deem necessary is to say that in it Ihave endeavoured to sketch a community for whom I have the highestadmiration, the descendants of the mutineers of the Bounty, who Imaintain are a standing proof of the miraculous power of the Gospel inthe regeneration of mankind when unhindered by sacerdotal interference.And in order to make the subject as full as possible, I have taken onetypical islander, the Bounty Boy, out of his surroundings into theworld, and told his adventures therein with a view of showing how theChristian who is one indeed may fare.
